Genesis 40:1-23 Genesis 35:28-29 Genesis 41:1-57
You know what I like about these verses? That even while Joseph was in prison, he was still serving the Lord. He was being productive where he was at and was still giving glory to God. It is so easy at times to not be happy where we are at in life. Always wanting the next thing or looking towards something better. It’s easy to be dissatisfied. It’s so easy to have excuses--- Joseph was in prison---yet his attitude was better than mine at times. Can you hear him now “Well Lord, I’d serve you—but I’m kinda in prison (and that’s your fault by the way)I’m not giving you glory either…I’m looking out for myself now!” It would be quite a different Bible story, wouldn’t it?
Sometimes I grow weary and long for days in the future…or even days in the past. God—grant me contentment…where you have placed me. Help me to hear your voice when You call to step forward and when to stand still. Help me to be satisfied where you have me but also always ready for when you want to move me.
When ours are interrupted, his are not. His plans are proceeding exactly as scheduled, moving us always (including those minutes or hours or years which seem most useless or wasted or unendurable) "toward the goal of true maturity" (Rom 12:2 JBP).
